GREENMAX Hydraulic Compactor Makes JB Hi-Fi Polystyrene Packaging into Recycled Plastic Products Raw Materials

JB Hi-Fi Limited is the largest Australian consumer electronics and home appliances retail company. It is publicly listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Its headquarters are located in Southbank a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The company has 316 stores across Australia and New Zealand, including 197 JB Hi-Fi and JB Hi-Fi Home stores in Australia, 105 Good Guys stores in Australia, and 14 JB Hi-Fi stores in New Zealand.

To satisfy customers, JB HI-FI provides home delivery service for appliances and electronics and collects back packaging, such as cardboard, and polystyrene foam packaging. Thus, JB HI-FI has to set up its recycling centers in distribution centers in each state.

In April, 2022, JB HI-FI ordered GREENMAX hydraulic compactor, a newest polystyrene compacting technology in the world, combining the benefits of traditional polystyrene screw compactor and hot melt machines. Equipped with high-efficient automatic hydraulic system, the waste polystyrene is crushed and then transfer into a storage bin of the GREENMAX Heracles Series polystyrene Compactor via a screw and then compacted into dense and uniform blocks with a volume reduction ratio of 90:1, greatly reducing the volume of waste polystyrene, therefore saving storage and transportation costs.

Also, to make the whole system intelligent, GREENMAX engineering team designs a wheel to calculate the length of blocks, when the length of the block reaches 1150mm, there would be a alarm to remind worker to come to move the blocks to wooden pallets.

This polystyrene hydraulic compactor is powerful and fully equipped:

Conveyor: to reduce the work intensity of feeding, high automation.
Precrush & Hopper system: GREENMAX pre-crusher system is very efficient, the capacity can achieve high to 600kg/hour. Loose polystyrene can be crushed and blower into a hopper system in a short time and save floor space.
Automatic cutter: pack blocks with a forklift no need for manual labor.
vacuum system: to suck polystyrene dust on the floor, solve 5s issue for the warehouse.

The customized polystyrene hydraulic compactor H-C300 was delivered to the Melbourne delivery center last month. GREENMAX also sent professional engineer Gavin and sales Wenny to help JB Hi-Fi assemble and debug the machine. After three days, this hydraulic compactor belonging to JB Hi-Fi has been able to work smoothly. JB Hi-Fi is very satisfied with this machine. Since then, JB Hi-Fi has been able to handle the polystyrene by itself and earns a decent income by selling polystyrene blocks. Besides, new improvements have been made in terms of economy and sustainable development. INTCO Recycling has been committed to serving every customer well and doing its best to recycle more waste plastics and reduce carbon emissions.
