Styrofoam Compactor Makes New Products from Recycled Styrofoam

Watchung, a borough in New Jersey, set a Styrofoam collection bin on the street. Now Borough residents can drop their Styrofoam waste into the blue and white bin on weekdays. White Styrofoam packaging and Styrofoam coolers used to transport fruits, fish, and meat are acceptable for recycling. The Styrofoam will be recycled into blocks by a Styrofoam compactor.

Styrofoam is the brand name for expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), a lightweight and bulky material commonly seen daily. People always feel trouble dealing with it since it can take up a lot of space. Moreover, residents have no way to dispose of the Styrofoam but throw it into landfills. Landfills are not designed to break down trash, but rather to bury it. Piling up trash in landfills can cause soil and groundwater contamination, so recycling is helpful to solve this problem.

The program was sponsored by the Environment Commission. In this program, the Styrofoam compactor has contributed a lot. The recycling method may vary from different Styrofoam materials.  Here, The Styrofoam from the collection bin will be put into the compactor, shredded, and compressed into blocks. The blocks will be sold to companies, which then make them into new products. Styrofoam can be recycled up to 20 times without damage to its physical properties. Therefore, Styrofoam can be recycled in Styrofoam compactors many times, reducing waste and creating more value.

To conclude, a Styrofoam compactor is helpful in turning trash into treasure. As Styrofoam recycling now becomes a growing trend around the world, almost every recycling site is equipped with a Styrofoam compactor or densifier to dispose of the large quantity of collected Styrofoam. GREENMAX Styrofoam compactors are sold worldwide and are popular in the United States and Europe. There are three types to meet different requirements, AC100, AC200, and AC300.
