What are the Different Types of Packing Foam

We always see different kinds of foam packaging in our daily life. Expanded polystyrene sheets, packed peanuts and polyethylene sheets or roll, they are all types of packaging foams. And the former two are made of polystyrene. Polyethylene is available in flexible sheets. Each of these packaging foams is best suitable for different types of product during shipping.

Expanded polystyrene foam is a lightweight, rigid, plastic wrap foam made from expanded polystyrene beads. It has only a small cushioning performance and is best suited for packaging lightweight items.

Packaging Peanuts, also known as loose fillings, are small, lightweight peanut-shaped packaging foams. It is designed to interlock when compressed and to flow freely when loose. Therefore, they are used to fill the empty space around the product being shipped. Packaging peanuts can not hold the product in place during transport, and can not used for products that are removable during shipping. Peanuts can generate static electricity, so they should not be used when shipping electronic equipment.

Furniture is usually wrapped in polyethylene. Polyethylene can also be made into anti-static packaging foam, it is suitable for shipping electronics and computer parts. A unique property of polyethylene is its resistance to tearing during transport, but it can easily be torn by human hands. It is also shock absorbing and shatterproof, and does not produce dust.
However, these foam packaging can easily become the waste and do harm to environment, so we should pay more attention to the packing foam recycling. And when we talk about the recycling, recycling machine is absolutely necessary.
There is a kind of foam densifier that can deal with polystyrene and polyethylene, which belongs to INTCO recycling of ZUES Series. The compactor can shredder and smash the waste EPS or EPE foam first, and then it can be compacted as blocks with the volume reduction ratio up to 50:1. It also has surface melting technology, melting the outside of the block like a stone to avoid the compacted foam scattering. Because of this, the waste EPS or EPE materials can be easily to transport to the recycling company to do other products.
