GREENMAX foam recycling solution helps Hypertec Group become an environmentally friendly company in Canada
Hypertec Group is a Canadian global IT solutions provider specializing in workstation and server manufacturing. The company headquarters is BOMA BEST® Gold certified, adheres to high standards in its environmental management system, and its products are EPEAT certified, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable development. This emphasis on environmental protection means the company strictly prohibits its products' foam packaging from causing "white pollution" to the environment.
As a server manufacturer, Hypertec uses a large amount of EPS and EPE foam to protect electronic components. Foam waste accounts for 70-80% of the total waste volume in its production facilities. Although lightweight, its massive volume presents significant challenges: limited storage space, frequent truck transport to recycling centers, high transportation costs, and substantial carbon emissions. Foam plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, and traditional landfill methods are expensive and inconsistent with the principles of a circular economy. As an environmentally certified company, the Hypertec Group urgently needs to find a solution that is both economical and environmentally friendly.
Hypertec Group learned that GREENMAX not only provides foam densifiers but also foam recycling solutions, a business model that immediately attracted the client. After engineers developed a detailed solution, they selected a foam densifier M-C50E, capable of recycling both EPS and EPE. This equipment uses hot-melt compression technology to melt and compress fluffy foam into high-density ingots, achieving a compression ratio of up to 90:1, significantly reducing storage and transportation space requirements. GREENMAX's foam recycling solution provides a buyback service for the compressed material, achieving a complete recycling loop.
Before using this foam densifier, carbon emissions were high, and annual landfill costs were exorbitant. After the equipment was put into use, storage space requirements decreased by 90%, transport vehicle trips were significantly reduced, the carbon footprint substantially decreased, and at least $15,000 in landfill costs were saved annually, with a payback period of just over one year. GREENMAX buys back compressed foam and uses it to make picture frames and decorative moldings, truly realizing a circular economy.
