GREENMAX Helps Many Regions in Africa Achieve Efficient De-labeling and Packaging of PET Bottles
Africa has a huge consumption of PET bottles, and a large amount of PET bottle waste is generated every year, but due to the lack of recycling facilities and relatively immature recycling equipment, the overall recycling rate is still low.
According to relevant statistical estimates, the amount of PET bottle waste generated in major African countries (South Africa, Nigeria, Morocco, Ghana, Egypt) in 2023 will be about 266,400 tons. The total amount of PET bottle waste generated in the entire region in 2023 is about 500,000 tons. The overall PET bottle recycling rate in Africa is relatively low, with an average recycling rate of about 10%-15% in 2021.
Since 2020, GREENMAX has been dedicated to the recycling and reuse of PET bottles, processing PET bottle bricks and clean flakes collected from Africa into food-grade PET pellets and packaging products at its factory in Malaysia. During the process of purchasing PET waste, GREENMAX discovered that many customers face significant challenges in recycling PET, primarily due to the poor performance of PET balers. The recycling of PET bottles in Africa is fraught with difficulties and challenges, such as complex sources of bottles, an unregulated recycling system, and immature equipment. Most PET bottles have mixed colors that do not meet the standards for food-grade products.
GREENMAX has deeply engaged in the market to train customers to sort clean blue bottles and introduced a PET label remover machine to replace traditional manual label removal, thus improving customers' sorting efficiency and the added value of the PET bottles. At the same time, most PET balers in Africa compress bales that are too light, with a 40-foot container only able to carry 10-15 tons. Due to Africa's remote location, the transportation costs to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia are too high. INTCO has custom-made PET balers for customers, allowing them to load 18-20 tons into a single container.
Last year, GREENMAX customized a PET baler + PET label remover machine for a customer in Ghana, helping the customer achieve efficient PET recycling. This truly realized the enhancement of recycling efficiency through mature recycling technologies while reducing recycling costs and significantly improving recycling results.
More importantly, GREENMAX not only helps provide PET baler + PET label remover machine, but we also assist customers in providing real-time updates on recycling technology and the latest industry information. Finally, we buy back the pre-processed waste materials, turning them into products to achieve a true recycling closed loop.
