Washington's Public Recycling Station Adopts GREENMAX Densifier to Boost Foam Recycling
The City of Tacoma, located in the state of Washington, is a medium-sized city. The recycling center under its city government receives a large amount of recyclable waste from residents daily, including PET bottles, milk jugs, cardboard boxes, EPS, EPE, and various other materials.
After initial sorting, these materials are sent to a nearby waste sorting center for further processing. The operational intention of this recycling center is not to make a profit, but to reduce landfill waste, thereby lowering environmental pollution and promoting the sustainable development of the city. It places particular emphasis on foam recycling, though it does not limit itself to a single type of recycling.
Foam waste, due to its large volume and light weight, usually needs to be compressed first. Originally, the center was equipped with a second-hand foam hot melter, but due to its age and severe equipment aging, it frequently encountered problems. By chance, the staff saw the foam densifier from GREENMAX at one of our clients, and they proactively contacted us, hoping we could provide some advice on foam recycling and other waste recycling.
In the United States, the usage rate of foam densifiers is very high, with many well-known companies' factories utilizing this brand of equipment for recycling. Especially for the difficult-to-recycle EPP foam, the use of foam densifiers has become the mainstream for recycling, not only because it can recycle EPP foam, but also because it can serve multiple purposes, including the recycling of common EPS foam, EPE foam, and other categories.
After multiple rounds of communication and evaluation, they ultimately chose foam densifier M-C200 equipment we provided for processing EPS and EPP foam waste. This equipment features a compression ratio of up to 90:1, which can significantly reduce the volume of foam, effectively lowering transportation and processing costs, thereby greatly enhancing the operational efficiency and environmental benefits of the recycling center. It also addresses the issue of low recovery efficiency from the previous old equipment. In a recycling scenario like this, being able to recover the most complex types of foam at the lowest cost is very important.
