Polystyrene Transformed into Eco-friendly Picture Frames by INTCO Recycling

St. Vincent De Paul's polystyrene recycling project assists residents of Eugene, Oregon, in an environmentally and cost-effective way to dispose of discarded expanded polystyrene, which can be remanufactured into photo frames.

St. Vincent De Paul is the only polystyrene recycling company in Eugene and accepts any polystyrene with the number 6 stamped on it. Residents can bring their waste foam to any St. Vincent de Paul donation location, which can be found on their website. The company recycled 104,323 pounds of polystyrene in 2023, and that number continues to grow. Most recycled polystyrene is made into picture frames and goes into big box retailers like Target or Walmart.

Polystyrene is very popular in various markets, but they mostly end up in landfills. In fact, polystyrene is one of the very few products on the market that is truly 100% recyclable. Through processes such as densification, granulation and regeneration, waste polystyrene can be returned to the market again, achieving a closed loop of recycling. INTCO Recycling is both a recycler of polystyrene and an end-user of foam, and has been researching in the field of polystyrene recycling for more than two decades. INTCO Recycling has mature processes and production technologies that can re-make waste foam into various frame products, such as photo frames, picture frames and floors, etc., realizing an economic closed-loop model of polystyrene recycling. In addition, INTCO has developed the GREENMAX foam recycling equipment brand, which has various machines for polystyrene recycling, including compressors, granulators, crushers and so on.

Foam is light in weight but large in volume. GREENMAX polystyrene compactor can compress the foam into compact foam ingots at a high ratio for easy subsequent transportation and storage. After processes such as cleaning and granulation, the foam ingots will be converted into foam particles by the GREENMAX pelletizer, which are the raw materials for making recycled products such as photo frames. At the same time, INTCO Recycling has a dedicated production base to make the particles into frame products and sell them all over the world. Additionally, we offer buy-back services for foam and particles at discounted prices for the production of photo frames, picture frames, and more.

The polystyrene recycling project of St. Vincent De Paul has contributed to the green development of Oregon. INTCO Recycling hopes that more people will participate in the polystyrene recycling business.
